| The CPUSA Soccer Programs CPUSA is dedicated to the overall development of the whole individual, regarding both physical prowess and character values. Sportsmanship is highly encourage regardless of ability and experience. However, we recognize that individual players do have different levels of natural talent and different goals for what they want to take away from the sport. With this in mind, we offer two separate programs: Recreational and Competitive. You will find an overview of each, please review and follow the link to begin the membership process. Thank you. If you have any questions, you can reach us via several means on our contact page. |

CPUSARecreational League Recreational soccer consists of teams in 2 year-old age brackets, starting with U-6 (under 6) up to U-19. For the younger age groups, anyone who registers for recreational soccer will be placed on a team. For some of the older age brackets, CPUSA can only have a team if enough players of that age bracket register. During the playing season, whenever possible, recreational teams will play each other within CPUSA. However in the older age brackets as well as all girls teams, CPUSA is a part of TARSA (Tampa Area Regional Scheduling Authority). TARSA allows other soccer clubs along the I75 corridor, the opportunity to have their teams play each other, thereby allowing a full playing season. U-6 and U-8 teams do not have goalies or keep score, as the objective is to get kids out on the field beginning to understand offense and defense and learning basic ball skills. Beginning with U-10, scores are kept and goalies are used. The recreational season starts in early November until the middle of February. Breaks are taken for the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday season. |
CPUSA SelectCompetitive League Select soccer is also called competitive soccer. This consists of teams for which the players must try out and be selected. Competitive teams are one-year age increments, starting with U-9 (Under 9) going up to U-18 with both boys and girls divisions. Select soccer is a longer season of practices and games in that competitive teams usually practice from August to February. There is a higher cost per player than the recreational program due the additional professional training sessions, uniforms and some tournament play that is included in the registration fees. Select teams usually go to several tournaments throughout the year and games are played within our region. Select teams are placed in divisions based on either their regular season record from the year before (U-11 and above only). There are no divisions for U-9 and U-10 age groups. The divisions are called either A or I for the highest level of play, B or II, and C or III. Based on the division the team is in, they will play other league teams for their age bracket and division, usually playing each team twice, once at home and one at the other team’s home field. This means that competitive teams travel for at least half of their games and all of their tournaments. The travel is usually less than one hour, but can be more. The goal for all leagues would be to have at least one team representing them in every age bracket and at least an A and B team in the younger brackets |
